Berbere (Ethiopia)

If you are looking for a new exotic, rare spice to try, look no further. Berbere doubles as a spice and condiment in Ethiopia, its country of origin. It is not frequently found outside of the region which only adds to its allure. The ingredients can vary widely, but often include chiles, ginger, fenugreek, cumin, and cardamom. This spicy mixture is often used as a rub on meat or fish, as a seasoning for vegetables or grains, and stirred into stews.
